An adaptation of an article by Akil Scafe-Smith in for the unpublished Croydon Art Store publication in 2019. The article looks at the role of ‘meanwhile spaces’ in the context of Outer London and reflects on the the implications and day-to-day experiences of the Croydon Art Store and its neighbours, Turf Projects, First Floor Space, and LOFT, in Croydon’s historic Whitgift Shopping Centre, during the height of the now-axed Westfield development story.
